A variety of worship services and activities are planned as we move from Lent through Holy Week towards Easter celebrations.
All are invited to join us on the passionate journey, which includes:
- Palm Sunday – Join us in joyful worship at 10:30 a.m. next Sunday, March 25, as we celebrate Christ’s triumphant entry riding a donkey into Jerusalem.
- Maundy Thursday – Remember the Last Supper when Christ shared the Passover Feast with his disciples as we gather for a simple supper at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 29, followed by a tenebrae service. (A tenebrae service uses gradually diminishing lights and other elements to help convey what Christ felt as he was betrayed and abandoned.)
- Good Friday – Pause to consider what Christ experienced during his trial and ultimate crucifixion as we gather with other Christians at 11:45 a.m. Friday, March 30, at Mahan Gazebo then process through downtown Allegan to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd for the Stations of the Cross. Also, a community Good Friday worship service will be held at 6 p.m. in the First Baptist Church.
- Easter Sunday – The joyous celebrations begin with a 7 a.m. “sunrise” service at the Hudson Corners Cemetery on 118th Avenue at 30th Street then continue with worship at First Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m. An Easter Egg Hunt for all of the children of God will be part of the festivities.
About the image:
All through Lent, we have been exploring the Colors of Easter Each week we have been adding a scarf representing the color for that day. Recently Pastor Kathy was in the sanctuary with a member of the Worship Team when they noticed the light streaming through a stain glass window and shining directly on the cross. It was amazing!
