First Presbyterian Church of Allegan Benefit Concert Series
Join us on the second Sunday of each month at 5:00 pm for a spectacular sampling of excellent music!
Top level artists from throughout the Midwest come to Allegan, MI; and play a concert just for you! Blues, Jazz, Folk, Soul, Harmonica, and Celtic, Drumming and Dance are some of the diverse expressions of amazing talent that await you at First Presbyterian Benefit Concert Series! In the past we have featured the excellent blues of Greg Nagy, Root Doctor, Tad Robinson, and many others; folk music from the Crane Wives; superb drumming of Keith Hall, Jeff Shoup, and Randy Marsh; and Carolyn Koebel’s eclectic and entertaining percussion work featuring rhythms and songs of diverse cultures.
Admission into the concert is completely FREE and we have FREE Childcare, too! (You should know that tickets to see these same bands in other locations can cost you over $50 per person!) Each concert is given for the benefit of a local Allegan non-profit organization. A free will offering is taken with 90% of the collection going toward that month’s designated organization and 10% of the collection toward future benefit concerts. If you want to donate, great! The local organizations really thank you for your help. If you can’t afford to give a buck or two, that is perfectly ok, just sit back and enjoy the music. After the one-hour concert, everyone is invited downstairs for a tasty reception where you can eat and hang out with the artists and even buy a cd and get it autographed.
We have found that our 1875 sanctuary has really sweet acoustics. It was built back in the days before sound systems, and sometimes the bands will sing unplugged or with minimal speakers to take advantage of the space. Come and experience some of the best artists in the midwest at First Presbyterian Church!
In 2015 we are proud to announce that the Benefit Concert Series has been underwritten by the Mignon Sherwood Delano Foundation! Thank you for your support and generosity!
